BYD has unveiled the Datang, the first D-segment flagship SUV in its Dynasty lineup. The model is expected to launch in China in the first half of the year, targeting the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) market with an estimated price above 400,000 yuan ($58,040).

The new SUV is powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, delivering a claimed electric driving range of up to 950 km. According to the company, this makes it one of the longest-range large electric SUVs currently available.

The Datang is built on a 1,000-volt high-voltage architecture and supports megawatt-level flash charging, allowing the battery to gain enough power for daily commuting in just five minutes.

Performance is also a highlight. The all-wheel-drive variant produces up to 585 kW (784 hp) and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while a rear-wheel-drive version offers 300 kW (402 hp) and the full 950 km range.

In terms of design, the SUV follows BYD’s “Dragon Face” styling language with slim “Dragon Whiskers” LED lights, a large trapezoidal front intake, semi-hidden door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The vehicle measures 5,302 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the Datang offers a spacious seven-seat layout (2+2+3). Premium features include a 3-nanometer cockpit chip, a 27-speaker sound system, and dual zero-gravity captain’s chairs in the second row.

The SUV also comes equipped with BYD’s advanced driver assistance system, God’s Eye, enabling assisted driving functions on both highways and city roads.

The Datang is believed to be the production version of the Dynasty-D concept introduced earlier, and its official market debut is expected later this year, likely around the Beijing Auto Show 2026.
